Band conditions not as good as last year. I had a good signal (100
watts into inverted V antenna) going to Australia,With the help of a
few patient operators at your side, we exchanged numbers. Many
thanks to the organiser (s) and log keeper(s). Back next year.

Running 100W to an 80 Mtr invertet vee with a tuner to enable all HF bands.
Keying with an old home brew iambic keyer I built somewhere in early 1980's
It was good to catch up with the usual suspects again.

CONDTIONS WERE VERY STRANGE WITH INCOSISTANT SHORT
TIME OPENINGS ON VARIOUS BANDS. THOSE OPERATING IN
VK2 VK3, VK5 AND VK7 WOULD HAVE HAD GOOD ADVANTAGE
WITH PROXIMITY TO EACH OTHER FOR THE SHORT SKIP CONTACTS
THAT WERE EXPERIENCED. THOSE OPERATORS IN QUEENSLAND,
WEST AUSTRALIA AND NORTHERN TERRITORY WERE AT A DISTINCT
DISADVANTAGE IN MY OPINION TO MAKE CONTACTS UNDER THESE
CONDITION, SUCH IS THE NATURE OF RADIO AND THE IONOSPHERE. |

A massive thank you to everyone involved in organising this RD. And
of course to all participants also. This was my first RD and it was
a real joy to make contacts in this contest.
I just worked HF with a TS830S running about 80 watts out to a
doublet at 8m agl and a rigged up inverted L on 160m.
The highlight was making that first CW qso on 160 after 1am for 12
points.
The lowlight was my TS830 finals blowing up with just 45 minutes to
go.
Already planning for next year - see you all then.

whether keyboard or key..

Another great RD contest. I done my best as it's not easy contesting
being almost stone deaf. For future contests I do recommend that
everyone please use the International Phonetic Alphabet when calling as it
make life a lot easier for people like me who are hard of hearing
and would like to enjoy contesting without having to have call signs
repeated due to not being understood.

Great contest. Consideration for future RD comps would be
some acnowlegment of participating defence vetrans perhaps extra letter in RST
eg "V 59 044" with one off extra point per contact with vet during contest
would help acnowledge amatures who have served and remind participats
what day is about during the day. manual count up added to calibro pehaps

We activated a WWII communications centre air-raid shelter operating
about 3 metres underground in a concrete bunker. Whilst our QSOs

event. Our thanks for managing another enjoyable contest.

SINGLE-OP MIXED HIGH |
Great conditions on the low bands overnight!
Also, good to see all the usual contestants, some ZL's and few new
commers this year. The RD is by far my favourite competition.
Always friendly, great comradery and a poignant meaning. Whist I
did not stay up for 24 hours this year, I did blocks of the contest
from my newly developed remote site situated to the east of
Adelaide. It was really strange operating from a PC and a headset
without a radio or antenna in sight!

SINGLE-OP SSB HIGH |
Operated portable while camped in the bush near Humpty Doo in the
NT. Couldn't commit to the full 24 hours due to tourist commitments
but had a lot of fun when on the air. The RF propagation from
here is so different when compared to SE VK & combined with the
different time zone, huge sigs from the north & late sunsets (7pm)
makes for a totally different contest experience. Still good to
catch-up with everyone.

Super fun contest as always! I made by first ever 160m contact with VL4R (Thanks Bill! :D)
My clock went out of sync around 1515 UTC by ~15mins. Two contacts were logged before I corrected this (VK4T and VK5CB). I've updated their respective times to be as accurate as possible.
Big thanks to everyone operating and especially the contest organisers.
